69 – The Staffordshire Hoard and BHP meetups!

There’s a really good chance that I’ll be in the UK in November to interview experts on the Staffordshire Hoard! If it happens, I’d love to meet up with you. We’re currently looking at setting up meet and greets in London and Birmingham (and maybe York) as well as a group viewing of the Hoard. So if you’re interested, could you please contact me and let me know so I can gauge interest?

Thanks!

I would love to have a chance to say ‘hi’. I’d pay good money for a guided look at the Staffordshire Hoard.

I am a listener but not a member; if that doesn’t bother you I would be interested. London based.

  4. I’m way down in the south west but by coincidence am in London on the 17th & 18th November. Possibly available the previous week as well so I’ll be watching this space for updates.

  5. London based. Up for a meet up.

Hi Jamie, I’d love to say hi and see the hoard, I’m an hours travel time from both York and Birmingham so I can travel easily. If its the first weekend in November I’m visiting Bath, never been before so going to see the old Roman baths and any other sites there. Hope you make it over, would be fantastic to say hi.

Hi Jamie, I live 45 minutes train ride from London and about 90 minutes from Birmingham. I would be delighted to meet you and the rest of the BHP family in either place especially with a viewing of the Staffordshire Hoard. The British Museum has excellent lecture theatres. Could your interview be in public? Mike

    • I think the interviews will be in private this time largely because this will be the first time that I’ll be meeting with the experts. But if this really takes off, maybe we can do something like this again with some sort of Panel or something along those lines. :)

If I can make it I will surely try. I’m often near Birmingham on business. From a history point of view I’m lucky to live halfway between Aqua Sulis (Bath) and Salisbury (Stonehenge) in the South West. For my work I travel widely throughout the South of England and when I can I stop by some of the more obscure historical sites. For instance I would love to find the true location of the battle of Edington one day. If you ever visit Bath, do try and stop at Bradford-on-Avon (about 5 miles away) where you will find one of the oldest and best preserved Saxon stone buildings still in existance… see:- http://www.bradfordonavon.co.uk/WhatToDo/saxonchurch.html

I would love to meet up with you and other members. I live in the Midlands, so it would work out well for me – except I shall be out of the country the last week of November, so I really hope it won’t be in that week!

  10. Hey,

I’m not a member (yet!) but I’d love to be a part of one of the meet-ups. I think London would be easiest for me, though I live equally close to Birmingham, so really I could do either.

Don’t worry – I intend to subscribe soon!

    • We have one scheduled for December 1st. I’ll be putting out an episode detailing the locations soon. Also, watch Facebook and Twitter for details. :)
